What to Expect
Kentucky State Law is clear in their expectation the the patient and medical cannabis provider have a bona fide patient-provider relationship.
This requires an in-person visit, review of the medical history, discussion on the medical, therapeutic, and palliative properties of medical cannabis, possible risks, benefits, side effects, and potential drug interactions, and planned follow-up.
Evaluation Process
Medical Record Review
The medical cannabis provider will medical records including diagnosis, treatment plans, and current medications. You must have one of the qualifying conditions to recieve certification for a medical cannabis card.
Physical Exam
A brief physical exam will be conducted.
Women of childbearing age and ability will be required to complete a urine pregnancy test as recommended by KY state law.
Informed Consent
Education on the medical, therapeutic, and palliative properties of medical cannabis, possible risks, benefits, side effects, and potential drug interactions. Informed consent document is required per Kentucky state law.
Follow-up
A plan for follow-up visits for recertification is required by Kentucky state law. Frequency of follow up appointments will be decided on a case by case basis.
Apply for Card Online
Once your certification has been signed you will apply for your card on the Kentucky Medicinial Cannabis Program website.
Visit Dispensary
Once you have been approved by the State of Kentucky you will be able to download your Medical Cannabis Card and visit a local dispensary.
